A Note from Leslie Ann

by Leslie Ann Jones February 22, 2018

An Open Letter from Muscadine Press founder and owner, Leslie Ann Jones

Hello Friend!

If you’re anything like me, you’re busy. Very busy. Your planner is jam-packed with all the things that go into managing the lives of an entire household. From the carpool line to work to dance to soccer to basketball to dentist appointments to figuring out what in the world you’re going to eat for dinner, you’re always on the go. And it seems like the busier you get, the more your soul craves something altogether different. Not more, but less. Stillness. Solitude. Quiet. The Lord.

That’s why I founded Muscadine Press. I started developing simple tools to help me dwell on the Lord throughout the day. Journals to direct and focus the precious time I spent in the Word. Verse cards to place on my desk and turn my heart toward God even in the middle of a busy day. Simple gifts to encourage friends who were going through hard times. And it changed my life. Don’t get me wrong—I’m still busy—but these simple tools have helped me focus on the things that matter most, and it has made all the difference.

If we’re ever going to become the women that God has created us to be, then we have to abide in Him. We have to dwell on his Word, devote ourselves to prayer, and follow His lead day in and day out. It’s my deepest prayer that the products in our little shop will help you do just that, no matter how busy you are. There’s nothing magical about them. They aren’t overfully fussy or super spiritual. They’re simply an invitation. A place to start. A reminder that faithfulness is a choice worth making not just today, but every day.

It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. I pray that we will choose moment by moment and day by day to do what's best, even when we’re busy or don't feel like it. That the Lord would strengthen and enable us to push back against our crazy busy culture and be different. Be better. Be His. And more than anything, I pray that He would cause our lives to overflow with the fruit that comes from the careful tending of a master gardener.

Grace & Peace,

Leslie Ann Jones is the founder of Muscadine Press.

Given the option between a life of ease and a life of suffering, I'll take the the easy road every time. Yes please to the good life. Hard pass on the hardship. But Jesus isn't like me. He knew what was to come, and he walked toward it with eyes and arms wide open.

A Joyful Heart is Good Medicine
A Joyful Heart is Good Medicine

by Leslie Ann Jones February 01, 2021

Here lately, every time I hear the familiar chords of an old hymn at church, tears prick my eyes, and it's a real struggle not to ugly cry in the middle of the sanctuary. It's the darnedest thing. Given the sidelong glances she gives me every time it happens, I'm pretty sure that our youngest daughter is seriously worried about me.
