Is It Spring Yet?
Leslie Ann Jones
I don't know what things are like in your corner of the world, but here in Mississippi, we've entered the time of year when the weather just can't decide if it wants to go all in for spring or hang back in winter for a while. Yesterday, I took a morning walk in 70-something weather. Today, it was 43 degrees when the girls got on the bus.
You never know what you're going to get down here in the spring, but regardless of what's happening with the temperature, I couldn't help but notice the buttercups blooming and Bradford pears budding on my walk yesterday. There were tulips sprouting in flower beds all over the neighborhood, y'all. That means that new life is on the way, and I'm here. for. it.
If you've found yourself in what feels like an exceptionally long winter, may the promise of spring be a reminder that the difficult, dark, and dreary days that you're walking through won't last forever. Just like any other season, it will pass. The frigid temps will relent. The days will lengthen. And someday, before you know it, the sun will shine again.
I love how nature itself preaches the gospel at this time of year. Yes, the winter has been cold and dark, but take heart, friends. Spring is coming. If you slow down long enough to really see the world around you, there are signs of new life all around. Can I get an amen?
Until next time, grace and peace.
