Let's take a minute to talk about ways to slow down and build anticipation and excitement during the Advent season. I'd love to hear what works for your family!
The Advent Book (affiliate link) is hands down one of our family's favorite Advent traditions. Our girls began asking about it the minute we got out our Christmas boxes this year. They look forward to it each night.
It's an Advent Calendar in book form. Every page of the book features a beautifully illustrated door for children to open. Behind the doors, the story of Christmas unfolds one verse at a time.
If you're looking for a Christmas tradition that faithfully retells the story of Jesus' birth in an easily digestible form for little ears, I can't recommend this highly enough.
I know it's a little late to start it this year, but keep the idea in your back pocket for 2019. You won't regret it, I promise.
We also light Advent candles at dinner each night and talk about the many gifts that God gave us when he sent Jesus. Sometimes our conversations veer off track, but I love hearing the girls talk about hope, joy, peace, and love. It's something I look forward to each day.
How are you savoring the season in your home this year? What's your favorite Advent tradition? What's working? What's not? Let's talk about it in the comments! Leslie Ann
